"Trump’s comments to right-wing media figure Tucker Carlson last night at an event in Glendale, Arizona, about former representative Liz Cheney (R-WY), coming as they have after the extraordinary racism and sexism of Trump’s Sunday event at New York City’s Madison Square Garden, have have highlighted the centrality of the campaign's attack on women."

"'She’s a radical war hawk,' Trump told Carlson, 'Let’s put her with a rifle standing there with nine barrels shooting at her, OK? Let’s see how she feels about it, you know, when the guns are trained on her face.'”

"Trump’s suggestion that Cheney should face a firing squad seems to be a general expression of the anger of white men accustomed to dictating the terms of public life when faced with the reality that they can no longer count on being able to cow the people around them."

/3

"Trump’s mental state continues to deteriorate, taking with it the former president’s inhibitions. After going on a rant about the people he blamed for troubles with his microphone at a sparsely attended rally in Warren, Michigan, the Republican nominee for president of the United States of America simulated oral sex on stage."

"The Trump Campaign cannot handle a big conversation about abortion at the end of the race. Trump’s 'whether women like it or not' comment pushed that conversation to the forefront."

The Message Box · Trump Stumbles to the Finish LineBy Dan Pfeiffer

"But as he continues his bid for a second term in the White House, there is an unsettling and undeniable shift that is leading many experts, observers and even some Trump supporters to conclude that the former president’s mental acuity and sharpness are also in decline, that his physical health and stamina are waning and that his frustration and anger are boiling over."

"Americans from both sides of the political spectrum should be alarmed by Trump’s words and behavior. The nation must confront the fact that beyond his hateful character, he is crippled cognitively and showing clear signs of mental illness."

"Tucker says a demon attacked him while he was in bed with his wife and four dogs. While skeptical Republicans are trying to blame one of the dogs in the bed for the bloody claw marks Tuckums is telling us all about, I’m far more inclined to believe it was his wife, who’s probably voting for Kamala and knows her vote is secret."

The Hartmann Report · Saturday Report 11/2/24 - Did a demon attack Tucker or was it his......By Thom Hartmann

Kate Manne thinks that women will see Harris elected. She says,

"This election is about men and two competing visions of modern masculinity: the wholesome, gentle, helpful Dad energy epitomized by a Tim Walz versus the paternalistic broody and bumbling creepiness of a J.D. Vance and the anachronistic crude leering domination of Trump, who—I am never not going to remind you—has been legally declared a rapist."

More to Hate · I Believe in Women (to Elect Kamala Harris)By Kate Manne

"And the election is about gender in another vital way too: the state-sanctioned violence towards trans and non-binary folks, whose right to humane, gender-affirming, and life-saving care, is being attacked and destroyed. A goal which Megyn Kelly went so far as to declare her single issue as a conservative dedicated to reinforcing the gender binary and upholding rising bodily fascism."

"Yes, white women are going to vote for Trump in numbers that will shock the progressive conscience. But some of those who did so in 2016, for better and for worse, have learned something since: that mortgaging your reproductive freedoms for white power is truly a devil’s bargain."

Let's hope that Manne and others who ware saying this turn out to be right about white women — who have disappointed many of more than once in recent elections.

@wdlindsy why would I vote for people who don't see my kids as legitimate people with a right to be who they are and love who they love

@darwinwoodka Why, indeed? As a gay man married to another man, this is a question I ask over and over, especially when I see people I know including family members professing (insincerely) that they love me and people like me and pulling the Republican lever over and over.

Talk is cheap. Actions speak louder than words.
